AP Junior Development Cycling Team
Mission Statement
We are a multidisciplinary cycling team consisting of 12-18 y/o boys and girls. We represent the New England area with current racers coming from MA, NH, ME and RI.Formerly CL Noonan/KAM, the team name AP Junior Development is a tribute to long time team benefactor and friend Alec Petro. Alec was a dedicated endurance athlete who had a vision and passion for getting kids on bikes. He opened his own wallet for many years, helping to finance the team along with long time sponsors Corner Cycle of Cape Cod, E-Line Accessories, and Bobcat Capital, providing riders with race kit, bicycles, race day support and training guidance. He did this behind the scenes without acknowledgement or accolades.
When Alec passed away, we promised his family we’d keep the team going in his name and memory. Our team has existed for almost 2 decades, and has become one of the most successful, longest running junior cycling programs in the country. Many local, regional, and national champions have come up through our program, including recent 2X National Champion, 16 year old Lizzy Gunsalus. Our alumni include many current and former professional racers such as the Keough brothers, Ben Wolfe, Emerson Oronte, Curtis White, Paul Lynch and many more. We are proud of our alumni who are able to achieve professional status, but we are just as proud of our racers who have obtained college scholarships through their success on the team. Team alumni have attended cycling powerhouses such as Lees-McRae, Furman University and University of Colorado. Several have also begun to pass on their cycling knowledge by becoming coaches themselves.
